Another place in Darjeeling at
the distance of about 50 kilometers is Mirik which
is situated at an altitude of about 5,500 feet.
Mirik with its alternative route to Siliguri from
Darjeeling has the identity of its own as an exotic
hill resort, Mirik is the valley with the natural
lake spanning to 1.25 km long which is fed with
perennial springs and rain water, and is an
excellent picnic spot, offering magnificent view of
Mt Khangchendzonga. Lake is surrounded by Pine trees
and garden of flowers, where the ride on paddle boat
is possible. Mirik has the small town with its own
Municipality office, where Tourist lodge and
cottages are available. |
