Sikkim nearly has about 200
Buddhist Monasteries of Nyingma and Kagyud order,
where it has been greatly influencing the culture
and lifestyle of the people, while demonstrating the
ritual and practices originating in Tibet. These
monasteries are adorned with priceless manuscripts,
scriptures and literatures and thankas painted on
rare silk and brocade with the touch of gold. Each
monastery has the traditional architecture, carved
and painted woodwork and icons of silver and gold.
Above all some of these monasteries are very old
with historic importance to the place. |
